The opposite of “good” is “well-meant.” An Autumn Rendezvous is a film about love and its moods of departure. A film of great longing about great longings. A melodrama about the little lies in relationships that are supposed to “protect” the other person from being hurt, but which in reality arise from one’s own cowardice and only make things worse. And yet, everyone is left with a smile in the end.
