The Entropy Gardens by DEPART (= Lass/Ladenhauf) is a unique VR experience that puts visitors inside a constantly changing horticultural environment. Investigating one of the most archetypical artforms, it challenges its myths, aesthetics and modes of perception by combining poetry and generative coding to construct a spellbinding and surreal utopian place. Formally it consists of an audiovisual 3D environment that combines “realistic” natural elements with abstract, computational forms. It is populated by structures that resemble plants, organic and anorganic matter and evolve through interactions with their environment.
