Sigmund Freud developed psychoanalysis in turn-of-the-century Vienna, where he continued to practise until 1938, when he was forced into exile and escaped to London. An intimate portrait – told from the perspective of his daughter Anna and based on Freud’s correspondence and writings – A Jew Without God is also a questioning of “home” and “Jewish identity.” Previously unpublished archival footage presents one of the most influential figures in the 20th century not only as a keen thinker, but also as a private person in many facets.
