Riding follows the production and operation of the temporary spectacle that is the fair over the course of one season in present-day Austria. It provides insight into the mechanisms of the fairground – the rides and their mechanical aesthetics, and the travelling showpeople’s work in front of and behind the scenes of the fair. Movements of the showpeople, their rides, and the visitors constitute the film’s central theme.
