Civil dusk: evening twilight. The film introduces a civil era in Uzochukwu’s relationship with his father, reconsidering post-colonial notions of (be)longing. A homesick Igbo father turns to sand amidst his European family, as he raises a house in his Nigerian family village from afar. He thereby follows a tradition rooted in the Biafran War. What ground is solid enough to build on?
