This film – A Second-Order Portrait – is part of a planned series dedicated to the history and present of feminism(s). It focuses on Italian author and feminist Carla Lonzi and on her role as one of the leaders of the Italian feminist revolt in the 1970ies and 1980ies. At the core of its narrative resides an unfinished project of Lonzi which was interrupted by her untimely death in 1982, and which the film wants to revisit in order to complete it in a speculative manner.
