August’s Places is a film that follows escape routes used by people and animals to places along the Austrian border. It presents an interplay between spoken text and film images, with the off-screen narrator organizing and drawing connections between research documents, images and interviews, notations and sounds. Her voice consciously adds a personal note. She unifies local events and personal memories in the dizzying heat of August.
